ISIOS Recalibration System with Laser Sensor Technology

Integrated Measurement Technology for Regular Recalibration Directly in the Production Facility

The accuracy of an industrial robot can change over its life cycle. Mechanical stress, temperature, maintenance work, changes to the tool or installation and other operational influences can cause the absolute accuracy originally achieved to decline over time.

The ISIOS recalibration system with patented Laser Sensor technology therefore enables regular checks and renewed optimisation of the robot directly in its production environment. The measurement technology required is permanently integrated into the robot cell and individually adapted to the robot, tool, workspace and installation geometry.

For recalibration, the robot moves to defined measurement poses that have been optimised in advance. The integrated lasers and sensors detect even the smallest changes relative to the known reference state. This measurement data allows the parameters relevant to accuracy to be determined again and the parameters of the mathematical robot model to be updated.

Tailored to Each Installation

When setting up the system, ISIOS already accounts for the specific conditions of the robot cell. These include, in particular, existing interference geometries, tool geometries and obstacles, as well as the workspace actually available for use.

Measurement series are specifically optimised for the installation concerned.

From One-Off Calibration to a Lasting Accuracy Concept

The key advantage over a one-off calibration service is the long-term availability of the measurement system.

Robot accuracy can therefore be optimised not only during commissioning, but also checked again at a later time. If changes are detected, the robot model can be updated and the robot controller corrected accordingly.

Robot calibration thus evolves from a one-off service into a repeatable part of quality assurance within the production facility.
